1Choice of software
technologies
Take advantage of new technologies and provide for a powerful translation tool (CAT
Tools). The latter must be able to deal with repetitions and recurrences
in the texts to be translated and guarantee terminology coherence. As a
standard, our translation agency exploits the features of the SDL Trados Studio
suite (leader in the translation market). The experience of our
translators in these emerging technologies allows our team to work with any
type of CAT tool. We can work on an application developed in-house by the
client or other translation aid software such as Across, memoQ, Passolo, etc.
2 - Location
Impacts
Anticipate the impacts of software location and identify tasks to be performed ahead of the
project. The grammatical structure of some languages such as Russian or
Polish may involve changes within the software areas. Indeed, these
languages have two forms of plurals in addition to the form of singular to
nominative. To distinguish these three groups, it is necessary to develop
an algorithm to identify which grammatical rule the number refers to. It
can be the quantity of items, the number of orders, etc. The destination
market can also lead to functional changes. This is often the case for the
translation of software services or related to country specific regulations.
3 - Style Guide
Adopt a style guide for multilingual
translation. The aim is to
provide translations tailored to end-users and destination countries. We
work with the client for each target language to provide a translation style
guide. The aspects discussed relate to the time of the verbs of the
commands and options of the software, the tutation or vouiment of error
messages, the identification and respect of system constants and variables, the
management of abbreviations, the translation or not of thesoftware modules,
date format management, currencies with or without conversion, etc.
